High-Tech Underwear to Keep Your Farts from Smelling
Paul O'Leary, a British innovator, has invented a pair of underpants called 'Shreddies' which prevent the bad odour of farts from going into the nostrils of people around.
Shreddies are available for both women and men. These underpants use a layer of activated carbon cloth for masking filthy smell of farts. The absorbent nature of the carbon cloth holds the smell. When the underpants are washed, their ability to trap the smell gets reset. The miracle fabric is called as 'Zorflex' by the company which claims that it has gone through rigorous tests for determining the ability of the underwear to mask odour.
De Montfort University tested the pair of undies which contain 100 per cent activated carbon, and the results were presented at the 86th Textile Institute World Conference. The company claims the legitimacy of the material as the Textile Institute World Congress does not accept any half-baked results.
Shreddies are available for people who may prefer hiding the odour of their fart. They may also buy it to gift someone who, according to them, poses great threat to humanity with their filthy airy output. The pair of undies starts at $45 for men and $30 for women. It is yet to be confirmed why the male underwear costs more. Whether the company finds men more likely to produce more filthy farts than women is yet to be confirmed as well.
If you are ecstatic at the moment to know that you have finally got the solution to hide yourself from any kind of embarrassment in a closed environment where your 'activities' can be easily detected, you may have to think again. Whereas Shreddies claim to help to mask the odour, it cannot tone down the sound. That is why you are not going to hide the sound of passing the wind even though you may hide the smell.
The company does have a suggestion for controlling the sound. They said that most people should be able to control the sound of their fart if they change their body position.
