California's law that mandates porn stars to wear a condom when filming sex scenes was given a boost following the admission by confirmed HIV positive adult movie actress Cameron Bay that her last male partner in an X-rated film didn't wear one.

Bay was offered a condom, but she felt it was not necessary because her costar recently tested negative for sexually transmitted diseases, although she should have literally seen red in the situation because the actor's penis was bleeding.

She shared her experience, together with four other current and former porn actors at a Hollywood press conference on Wednesday. Belatedly, the performers are now realising that the industry, in bucking the law on compulsory use of condom, does not provide sufficient protection for its performers against STD.

Another porno actor, Patrick Stone, said he was made to engage in sex scenes even if he was informed of being HIV positive through an email from the Performer Availability Screening Services (PASS) on Sept 10. He said he did not receive a follow-up call or email from PASS or from his employer, Kink.com, to discuss the results of the test or schedule more tests.

What he got was a schedule for a shoot the next day even if Kink.com knew of his medical condition, Stone said.

But Kink.com insisted it is unaware of Stone's positive result when it scheduled him for a shoot because his last test was negative, and test results were not updated on the PASS system for producers due to the moratorium on filming when Bay's positive test result came out.

A third male actor joined the press conference via a phone call to keep his identity secret. He shared that he developed symptoms of HIV and tested positive two weeks after a shoot.

Rod Daily, the fourth performer positive for HIV, was in a romantic relationship with Bay for two years, although he was an actor in gay porn the past 12 years. He insisted that he always used condoms but still tested positive in September.

Like the third performer, retired porn actor Derrick Burts said he became infected in 2010 after just a few months of working in the adult movie industry. In just four months, he acquired chlamydia, gonorrhea and herpes.

The Free Speech Coalition, which supervises the database of all porn actors' STD tests results, imposed a moratorium on porn shooting on Aug 21 when Bay tested positive for HIV, but it lifted the moratorium after six days.

The coalition made a second moratorium when Daily also tested positive for HIV bit is scheduled to lift the moratorium on Friday, Sept 20. But it will mandate STD testing of porn actors every 15 days instead of 28 days.
