“Home and Away” recap
On Monday, Kat bumped into Ash at Salt and the two made small talk, but Kat was clearly reserved. She got into a conversation with Brody, where she revealed that she’s got an interview lined up for a tutoring job. Kat planned to do the lunch interview at the diner, but Brody convinced her to have it at Salt and make it more impressive. The next day, Phoebe felt the interview didn’t go well and assumed that she didn’t get the job, but the interviewer informed her that she’s in. However, the employer backed out after checking Kat’s references, where he found out that she had dealings with a former criminal and even had a relationship with him. After, Ash arrived and asked about the interview. Kat told him what happened and walked away.
Chris was feeling down about the slow business lately, and he couldn’t understand why customers seemed to be trickling down the diner. Ash told him they must be going over to Salt and having the restaurant’s special called the Brody Burger. Chris went over to Salt and accused Brody of stealing his recipe and the diner’s customers. Chris then challenged Brody a taste test but the latter refused. The two men didn’t notice Spike watching them from afar. Later, Brody found that someone messed up his stuff inside the van and accused Chris of doing it. Chris wasn’t responsible for ransacking the van, it was Spike.
Spike arrived at Phoebe’s doorstep and threatened her and Justin to help him get in the syndicate. Spike ordered the two to find the book so he could turn it over to the mob. Justin denied knowing where it is, but Spike didn’t buy it. Spike threatened Phoebe’s life, as well as the other Morgans’ if Justin didn’t find the book. Justin said he’d look over the boxes of stuff that arrived at their house and Phoebe volunteered to help. However, it wasn’t in any of the boxes – Spike told Justin he only got tomorrow to look for it. When Spike left, Phoebe grilled Justin about what’s going on and he was forced to admit the truth – Spike worked for a group that killed Justin’s parents. Phoebe also learned that the Morgans are under the witness protection program. She wanted him to go to the cops and he was reluctant at first, but seemed to agree with the idea.
The next day, Justin went back to the Morgans’ house to look for the book one more time. Phoebe arrived and lashed at him for not going to the police. Justin defended himself and made a bargain with Phoebe – if he doesn’t find the book on time, he’d go to Decker, the police assigned to protect his family. Justin and Phoebe spent hours looking for the book, but their efforts were in vain. Exhausted of living a dangerous life for seven years, Justin lost his cool and expressed his frustration. Phoebe calmed him down and they kissed.
Phoebe and Justin took a break and tried to figure out where his dad hid the book. They bumped into Spike and asked for more time. He relented and gave the pair three days to look for the book. The two went back to the house and resumed their search. Phoebe spotted the stuffed toy that Justin was holding at a photo when he was just a kid. The toy dog had a collar with a number scribbled on it in case of emergency. Upon closer inspection, Justin saw a receipt for a storage room in the city. They rushed over to Justin’s truck and drove over to that facility.
