"Home and Away" recap
On Monday, Kat and Ash’s dinner date was interrupted when she received a phone call from the police station. She rushed immediately and walked in on Josh making his sworn statement about murdering Charlotte. Josh was asked whether someone else knows about what he did prior to his confession, and Josh said no. Sergeant McCarthy was curious about Andy’s motive to turn himself in – it was already a closed case. Josh fibbed and said it was because Andy felt guilty about the explosion. McCarthy wasn’t buying it – he thinks there’s more to Josh’s story than he’s letting on.
Later, Andy saw Josh in handcuffs and realised that Josh confessed to the crime. Andy said Josh was lying but the police won’t hear any of it. Andy vowed he’ll find a way to sort everything out. Despite Josh’s admission, Andy was still held in jail for false confession and needed $50,000 for bail. Kat and Ash talked about her involvement in covering up the truth. She expressed her concern that the truth might come out sooner or later, but Ash reassured her that those who knew about it – himself, Evie, Josh and Andy – won’t say anything. However, Kat believed she should come clean before she gets caught.
Ash bailed Andy out by loaning money and putting the garage as security. After leaving jail, Andy saw Evie and confronted her about Josh. He asked her why he didn’t stop Josh from confessing. Evie coldly responded to him, but warmed up a bit when Andy asked her to visit Josh in prison and try to change his mind. When Evie went to visit Josh, he refused to see her. He insisted that they’ve broken up and asked Kat to tell Evie not to see him anymore. Josh didn’t want any contact with her at all. When Kat relayed this to Evie, she was absolutely devastated. In tears, she told Leah and Zac that Josh didn’t want to see her. She blamed herself for not stopping Josh to confessing. Zac said Josh did the right thing by coming forward.
Later, Kat talked to Josh and asked him what made changed his mind about coming clean. Josh said he couldn’t live with the guilt anymore. Kat said she’s going to confess her part in it before her superior finds out. Josh stopped her and said she did the right thing – because of Kat’s move, he was able to spend more time with Evie before going behind bars. Now that he’s facing up to what he did, it’s all worked out, Josh said. He advised to move on with her life and put their dark secret behind her. Josh requested Kat to keep an eye on Andy. Kat informed him that he’s out of bail but she said she doesn’t know who paid for it.
Kat was stunned after learning from McCarthy that it was Ash who bailed Andy out. She said Andy was a walking disaster – one wrong move and the $50,000 would be thrown off the window. Kat was livid, but Ash assured her that Andy can be trusted. Elsewhere, Andy stole money from the garage’s till. Later, he took a call and it looked like he won’t be going straight and narrow as he promised Ash.
At the hospital, Mason and Nate started off with a wrong foot when Nate overheard Mason insulting the Summer Bay hospital. Mason was there to train under him. Meanwhile, Alf was getting grumpier than ever with his situation. He didn’t want Roo to help him go about things and he also lashed at Nate about his condition. Later, Alf and Roo clashed over her decision to let Justin manage the shop while he’s recovering. He tried to stand up but collapsed and Mason was there to catch him. Alf and Mason hit it off. However, Nate criticised Mason for not calling staff when Alf fell – it was hospital protocol to check for injuries after incidents like that. Nate reminded him that despite Tori being the head of the emergency department, Mason won’t be getting any special treatment. Tori overheard Nate reprimanding her brother.
