‘Home and Away’ Star Steve Peacocke Lands Hollywood Film Role With Tina Fey, Margot Robbie
“Home and Away” star Steve Peacocke’s move to Hollywood has paid off quickly. The 33-year-old has landed a role alongside Tina Fey and fellow Australian Margot Robbie in a new film based on the wartime memoir “Taliban Shuffle.”
Deadline reports that the untitled project will see Fey playing a journalist in the film. The “self-confessed adrenaline junkie” character will recount her six years of reporting on terrorism and international affairs. Peacocke will be a Kiwi in the film. His character Nic is described as an alpha male bodyguard who has a crush on Fey.
Robbie is also attached to the film, but it is unclear what role she will be playing. “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” actor Nicholas Braun was also recently announced to join the project. He will be playing Fey’s cameraman named Tall Brian.
“The Taliban Shuffle” is a 2011 memoir by journalist Kim Barker, and recounts her experiences while covering events in Pakistan and Afghanistan in 2002. Fey’s production company Little Stranger will produce.
Away From Home
Earlier in February, Peacocke revealed that he has filmed his last scenes for “Home and Away” in December. He is leaving the Channel Seven soap to take a shot at a Hollywood career, though his character Darryl “Brax” Braxton will still appear in the show for most of the year.
“It wasn’t something I was looking forward to because I love the show and the people I work with so much,” the actor told the Daily Telegraph. “But I think the key to any good TV series or any good storytelling is to leave the audience at the right point, and where we got to go with Brax, we hit a point where it was the best point for him to exit the show. It was just the perfect time I guess.”
His new wife Bridgette Sneddon, who plays Sophie Taylor, also shot her final scenes. She is joining Peacocke in the U.S.
