‘Home and Away’ update: Character's marriage woes may signal Bonnie Sveen's looming exit
It’s been more than a month since “Home and Away” favourite Bonnie Sveen, who plays Ricky Sharpe, announced that she’s leaving the highly popular Australian series, and fans are wondering when her swan song will air.
In early April, the 26-year-old actress took to Instagram to share her emotional announcement. “And so... It is with a sad but proud heart I announce the end of my Home & Away journey,” Sveen wrote. “If someone had told me 10 years ago that I'd be playing a staunch, surfy chick in Summer Bay (and that it would bring me more joy than I could imagine) I wouldn't have believed them.”
She also wrote, “A magical place to shoot scenes all colours of the rainbow, with a tireless crew and production team... And a cast that I have learnt from and grown amongst.” The Tasmania-born blonde beauty also took the opportunity to show her appreciation to the people behind the Aussie drama, which she’s been part of for five years. “Thank you for the banter, the laughs and the lessons. Playing Ricky has shaped me forever. I carry every bond that was forged and so many fond memories, into the new beginning,” she added.
In an interview on Sunrise (watch below), Sveen revealed that she’s done shooting her final scenes. A “Home and Away” spoilers from Back to the Bay hints that in early June’s run, “a blast from the past offers Ricky a startling proposition.” This may be the lead-in to the actress’ final goodbye. Currently, Ricky is experiencing relationship troubles with her husband Dr Nate Cooper (Kyle Pryor), and things are not looking bright for the two. In a recent episode, Ricky told Phoebe (Isabella Giovinazzo), “I think I made a mistake marrying Nate.”

Sveen made her debut in “Home and Away” in 2010 as Hayley Dovers. She then returned to the show as Ricky Sharpe, who thrilled fans with her relationship with Brax (Stephen Peacocke). In 2014, Sven won a Logie for Most Popular New Talent on Home and Away, according to the show’s official web site.
In her Instagram post Sveen also confirmed that she has a new show lined up, alongside her friend in real life, Aussie singer Jessica Mauboy. In “The Secret Daughter,” Sveen will play Layla, the best friend and backup singer of Mauboy’s character, Billie.
