"Homeland" Alum David Harewood in HBO’s “Money” by David Milch; Things to Know about his New Role [VIDEO]
"Homeland" actor David Harewood may not be returning to Showtime’s hit series for Season 3 after he was killed in the massive bombing at Langley in last season’s finale. But the former CIA chief is very much alive as a CEO for a holdings company in David Milch’s new HBO drama, “The Money.”
Playing the character of Kurt Corbitt, The Hollywood Reporter describes his new role as a “a grandiose, boisterous, irascible ideologue and the CEO of the parent company to a big holdings company.” The said company Corbitt heads is owned by the drama’s lead character, James Castman portrayed by Brendan Gleeson.
In “The Money,” Gleeson as Castman is an influential media mogul who uses his power in the expansion of his empire and control of his family. Gleeson and Harewood will be playing opposite Nathan Lane, who plays the character of a reporter in pursuit of a “hot story” that will likely involve Castman and Corbitt.
From handling terrorists as Chief of the CIA in Homeland David Harewood, who plays David Estes in Homeland will be handling money, power and influence in the new HBO drama. Harewood was boss for Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin). He was among the 200 victims of the terrorist attacks in Langley in the Season 2 finale of Showtime’s hit series.
Harewood is now replaced by Saul Berenson (Patinkin) as chief of the CIA, who by the way is making Carrie’s life miserable. Indeed, Saul also replaced Harewood in making things quite difficult for the CIA case officer. It will be recalled that Harewood did not actually believe Carrie’s theory in the beginning of the first two seasons that Sgt. Nicholas Brody was turned from being a war veteran hero to a terrorist out to kill top officials of America, particularly Vice President Finn Walden.
Harewood never saw it coming and he kept a blind eye on Carrie who insisted that surveillance on Brody is paramount and he could be connected to known terrorist Abu Nazir.
The former CIA chief will not be fighting terrorist in Milch’s “The Money” but he could likely be the idealist in the new HBO drama. Milch also wrote and executive produced the pilot episode of “The Money” with Frank Rich and Art and John Linson. The new HBO film is directed by Justin Chadwick.
Represented by APA and Authentic Talent and Literary Management, Harewood is a British actor with "Blood Diamond," "Strings" and "The Merchant of Venice" among his credits.
