A new character has reportedly been added to the smash hit TV series Homeland, and his role on Showtime’s thriller could be causing Carrie Mathison (Claire Daines) and Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) “to explode” in the CIA.

Reports have it that William Abadie, known for his role in Ugly Betty, has come onboard Homeland to play the role of an international journalist. Insiders noted that Abadie will make Carrie’s and Saul’s life, while doing their jobs at the Central Intelligence Agency more stressful than they already are, causing tempers to explode in many of the sequences for Season 3.

Abadie has appeared in many TV series to date. These include Blue Bloods (2013), White Collar (2013) , Pan Am (2011), 90210 (2010) and Royal Pains (2009) among others. He also appeared in films including The Longest Week (2013) and The Human Contract (2008).

In Homeland, Abadie is reported to play the character of an “overly charming” journalist. Enstarz noted that the actor is likely to “ruffle a great deal of feathers on the show."

Saul and Carrie are met with a lot of questions as Season 3 kicks off. The season begins with what happened next, following the massive explosion during the funeral service of Vice President Finn Walden (Timothee Chalamet). killing almost half of the country’s prominent officials.

In the Season 2 finale, Carrie helped Sgt Nicholas Nick Brody to escape, following the explosion for fear that no one would believe he has nothing to do with the latest attacks. The bomb that was used for the attacks was planted in his car and his “video-confession” with Brody in uniform was aired in all television networks, making him the most wanted terrorist in Homeland.

It has been rumoured that there will be less of Brody for the next season of Showtime’s hit TV series. But for the little time that Brody will have with Carrie, it looks like the two lead characters are having trouble getting into the same page for their very little scenes. The chemistry of the stars has been amazing in the last two seasons, said Homeland insider, but Carrie appears to be impatient with Brody’s light-hearted personality.

But Season 3 is more of Carrie and Saul. The two have been featured with impeccable love and respect for each other in the first two seasons. Saul has remained steadfast and continued to have faith in Carrie even when she broke down and the CIA found out of her bipolar disorder. In Season 3, Carrie and Saul will be featured facing challenges involving government officials and members of media and their efforts to find Sgt Brody.

Will there be passionate kisses for Brody and Carrie when they cross path again? Homeland debuts third season on Sept 29 at 9/8 p.m. Central.
