Since Nick Brody failed to convince Carrie Mathison to run away with him in “Homeland” Season 2 finale, the former lovers have been apart and reunited only in Showtime’s hit series this week.

Episode 9 of “Homeland” Season saw the much-awaited reunion of Carrie and Brody, much more so now with Carrie pregnant with the war veteran’s baby.

This week shows Carrie visiting Brody who has been holed up in a safehouse in Virginia. The CIA case officer and soon-to-be mom has been approached by CIA acting chief, Saul Berenson to convince Brody to go on a “suicide” mission to Tehran.

According to Saul’s plans, Brody is to try to have an audience with Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRG). Saul’s Iranian project includes having Brody kill the IRG leader to be replaced by CIA’s asset Javadi.

While it is unclear what’s to come for Brody after he accomplished his dangerous mission, Saul convinced Carrie (and Brody) that this was one best way for the marine-turned-suspected terrorist to undo what he had done in the first two seasons of Showtime’s “Homeland.”

“He can do something -- something to break the logjam, something besides another war, something that will change the facts on the ground just enough,” US News noted Saul as saying as he sat down with Carrie, explaining his plans.

Carrie was then at the hospital recuperating from the gunshot wound she sustained when CIA henchman, Peter Quinn (Rupert Fiend).

The CIA officer was not too thrilled to let her in on Saul’s plans amidst her countless efforts to prove Brody’s innocence on the Langley bombing.

But she has been instrumental even in Saul’s plans, which she asserted was born out of her own efforts for the agency. Carrie herself was dying to convince Saul that she played a key role for what the acting CIA chief has in store for the agency and her baby’s daddy.

“Have a little faith Saul. Two weeks ago there was no operation and now there is, because of me. I really need you to get that,” Carrie was heard snapping at Saul, said US News.

Episode 9 of “Homeland” Season 3 gave fans a glimpse of what has become of Brody. The marine sergeant who had formed alliance with terrorists has become a heroin addict but was already on detox at the time Carrie visited him at CIA’s special ops safehouse.

The episode has left more nagging questions for the audience:
- How long will the reunion last?
- Will Brody be happy when he finds out Carrie’s pregnant?
- Does Carrie have enough courage to tell Brody she’s pregnant?

“Homeland” Season Episode 9, “One Last Time” airs on Showtime, Sunday, Nov. 24, 9pm ET.
