Honda Disagrees Fernando Alonso’s Plans To Join Porsche For Le Mans - Report
Honda prevented Fernando Alonso from racing in the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans after it vetoed his plans to join Porsche. According to a report in Auto Motor und Sport, Alonso planned to race in the third Porsche 919 Hybrid with Nico Hulkenberg.
Back in June, Alonso expressed his desire to race at Le Mans. "It's a good experience, a good race, and obviously to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans means a lot for any driver, and hopefully I will race there," the 33-year-old said.
Apparently, 2015 is not the year that Fernando Alonso will be able to join the race because Honda blocked his bid to join Porsche for the race, which means that he will only focus his commitment with McLaren-Honda this year. Last year, Porsche confirmed that it will bring another car to Le Mans in May and Alonso had been lined up for the third car for Le Mans.
Unfortunately for the Spanish Formula One driver, he will have to wait before he makes his official Le Mans debut. But then again, he will have more time to concentrate on his first year with McLaren.
Last year, when Fernando Alonso expressed his desire to join Le Mans, he also claimed that he needs wait until he finishes Formula One because of the tests, trainings and dedication that are required from him, when takes part in the world's biggest sports car event. He went on to add that he is the type of person who gives his 100 per cent when he's doing something and tries to win championships.
One of the reasons why the two-time Formula One world champion picked Honda is the fact that it came back to Formula One as an engine supplier to McLaren. Just recently, the Spaniard took to Twitter and posted two pictures of the brand-new hybrid NSX that was just unveiled at the North American International Motor Show.
