How Did Megan Young Prepare For Miss World 2013 Crown? [PHOTOS/VIDEOS]

On September 28 in Bali, Indonesia Crowned as the first Filipina to win the Miss World, after she rose over 127 contestants from all over the world. A six-member team trained 23-year old actress/host Filipina beauty on her way to the Miss World crown.

Megan Young had faith on a six-member team that trained her for the contest.

Talent manager Jonas Gaffud told that his group 'dubbed Aces and Queens 'helped Young put in order for the contest. Each team member was in command of various aspects of the contest.

"John Cuay handled her physical fitness regimen. Bessie Besana took care of her fashion needs; Albert Kurniawan, her makeup. Nad Bronce trained her for interviews and Arnold Mercado handled her schedules," Gaffud told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The things Megan Young had to do and factors that helped her en route to winning the Miss World beauty crown are:

1. Learning from the past

Preparing for a pageant is not an easy task as it requires disciplined hard work.

"We study and learn from our past experiences," said Gaffud, who has had extensive experience in the beauty business.

He helped train the country's representatives to the Miss Universe pageant for the past three years - all landed among the top rung: Venus Raj finished fourth runner-up in 2010, Shamcey Supsup third runner-up in 2011 and Janine Tugonon first runner-up in 2012.

2. For work out

"I asked John (Cuay) to develop exercises for her problem areas: her thighs and shoulders." Gaffud said Young had to lose 25 pounds (11.3kg) to get in perfect shape.

3. For her makeup

"I told her to choose a colour between pink and red since her gown by Francis Libiran was coral." Gaffud, said Young consulted him on what shade of lipstick to wear before the parade.

Bronce instructed Young to get an Asian look since she's a Filipino- American mestiza.

4. Her hairdo

"She's 5-foot-7 (170cm) but she also wears six-inch heels," Putting her hair up made Young look taller too, Gaffud said.

5. Study Hepburn

As for runway walk, "simple and elegant"that is what Gaffud instructed Young .

"I told Megan to study Audrey Hepburn and Princess Grace of Monaco. She should look sweet and regal," Gaffud added.

"Each pageant has a different requirement. In Miss Universe, the walk should be fierce. ... In Miss World it should be classy." Gaffud added.

6. Her showbiz background

"She knows how to project onstage,"

"As a former veejay and host, she's used to talking in front of a crowd. She also copes well under pressure. She was just being herself but she's also a good actress so she can adjust easily." Gaffud explained that Young's showbiz background stood her in good stead too.

7. Secret weapons

Lauren Young, Megan's younger sister travelled to Bali with brother Victor and mother Vicky to support her sister and according to her Megan's secret weapons were her modesty and enthusiasm to work hard.

"The first thing Megan told me was: 'This is it!' She said it was the start of her journey to help change our country and the world for the better." Lauren told that after the coronation, Lauren got to converse with her sister

"Megan showed that through hard work, you can attain what you want in life. You should not rely on anyone but yourself." Lauren explained.

Lauren asked her sister Megan what it felt like to put on the blue crown and her answer was simple.

"Megan said she still felt the same,"

"That's what I admire most about her. Even though all these amazing and life-changing things are happening now, she remains normal and humble." Lauren added

"Megan understands that it's not about her, but about making a difference for the country and the world." Lauren added.

8. Above all fortitude

"Because of her experiences in life and her desire to be a beauty queen. She always dreamt of joining a pageant. She didn't waste any opportunity to prove that she could do it". - Actress Ryza Cenon said her fellow StarStruck alumna won the Miss World crown according to Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network.
