Cristin Milioti made a brief appearance in "How I Met Your Mother" Season 8 finale as "The Girl with the Yellow Umbrella" or "The Mother." Entertainment Weekly had the first interview with the 28-year-old actress who bagged the most important character in the successful CBS comedy series and revealed how she got "The Mother" role.

In the audition process, Ms Milioti shared that her agents gave her a call telling that the "How I Met Your Mother" team wanted an interview for a possible character arc. "I asked, 'What's the character?' And they said, 'We don't know.' So I had a Skype meeting with creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays and we talked maybe for a half hour," the Tony-nominated actress revealed.

The next thing that Cristin knew, she was flying to Los Angeles to test for the HIMYM character without having any idea what it was. "They were so secretive, so I had my suspicions. The day I shot my first scene, it was really on lockdown. All the extras in that train station are producers and writers of the show. It was so beautiful, because I got to meet everyone and they were incredibly welcoming," Cristin recounted.

Furthermore, Cristin Milioti confessed to Entertainment Weekly that she had never seen "How I Met Your Mother" before she landed the part. "I feel really weird about this, but I had never seen it. I'm catching up on them now. I watch them every day at breakfast," the 28-year-old Tony-nominated actress stated.

Fans will be more excited with Ted Mosby finally meeting "The Mother" as Cristin Milioti shared some details about her still nameless character in the upcoming "How I Met Your Mother" Season 9. The actress revealed: "She has a unique sense of humor that is very similar to Ted's. She's a young woman who suffers from dad humor, that's how she rolls. Someone who says a joke and you're immediately like, "Daaaadd!" Corny isn't even the word - a little nerdy."

Adding up to the excitement for HIMYM Season 9 is the release of the TV series' official promo video, talks about the spin-off and the Entertainment Weekly image of Cristin Milioti with Josh Radnor where they look undeniably good together as "The Mother" and Ted Mosby.

There is a possibility that fans will not say goodbye yet to the HIMYM gang given that the idea of a tenth season or a spin-off was stirred up at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con panel. "Comic-Con reminded us how many people really love the show, and it would be a shame for the party to end next spring," Carter Bays, the HIMYM executive producer, stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"How I Met Your Mother" Season 9 is scheduled to premiere on September 23 at 8 p.m.
