It's a fact that perfumes make people smell good, but its floral or fruity scent may make some noses itch with irritation. And though some might find sensitive noses to be off-putting, the fact of the matter is, they're not suffering from an allergy - they may be suffering from chemical intolerance, according to a new study.

While some only have a whiff of perfume after being sprayed in a department store by sales people, those with chemical intolerance may not just get a whiff, but instead, the scent may seem to be always there for them, according to a study done by Psychology researcher Linus Andersson. In fact, hypersensitivity can be the result of an inability to get used to smells.

But the scents for those suffering from chemical intolerance do not just affect the nose, according to Andersson, it affects the whole body. This hypersensitivity also irritates the mucous linings of the nose and mouth; the brain will also produce heightened reactions to scents.

But not all scents may make people cough or wheeze. While still being pleasant to the nose, some scents have beneficial properties that may just make people not only smell better but feel better.

Here are the top 5 scents that just might make someone's day.
