The HTC Desire EYE has been finally announced. AT&T has also proclaimed that they would be supporting the Desire EYE, the selfie-centric smartphone from HTC. According to PhoneArena, the handset is expected to hit the US markets by end of the year holiday season.
The HTC Desire EYE is the first smartphone ever in the world to come with two 13 megapixel cameras, one present on the rear side and the other one present on the front side. The frontal camera is primarily meant for snapping high quality selfies. Both the cameras support wider angles of 88 degrees and are enabled with dual LED flashes.
The HTC Desire EYE comes with features that are quite similar to the ones present on the HTC One M8. Since Desire handsets sport plastic exterior, the new Desire EYE also comes with high quality plastic chassis.
As far as other details on Desire EYE specifications are concerned, the handset comes with a 5.2-inch LCD display that supports 1080p resolution. The device is powered up by Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor that delivers a clocking performance of 2.3 GHz. It is accompanied by 2 GB RAM.
The internal storage of the Desire EYE is 16 GB and it also comes with microSD card slot. The handset also features BoomSound stereo speakers. It is housed with a 2,400 mAh battery.
Yesterday, HTC also announced the arrival of the HTC RE standalone camera. It comes with a 16 MP lens with 1/2.3 CMOS sensor. The camera can be easily paired with most of the recent Android smartphones and Apple iPhones.
The HTC RE has a water-resistant body which will allow the users to use the camera freely while indulging in adventurous activities like hiking and snorkeling. The HTC RE is considered as a rival for GoPro line. AT&T will also be supporting the HTC RE camera.
As of now, the pricing of HTC Desire EYE and HTC RE camera for AT&T has not been disclosed. PhoneArena claims the Desire EYE would be as costly as the HTC One M8. AT&T states that the HTC Desire EYE and the HTC RE camera will arrive in the US by the coming holiday season.
