HTC's first tablet, the HTC Flyer, was given a price slash from UK retailers. The tablet was given its first price slash along with other tablets from retailers at US following the launch of Amazon's Kindle Fire launch price.

The HTC Flyer even though a tablet, is installed with Android 2.4 Gingerbread instead of with Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The tablet is powered by a 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of memory and up to 32Gb of SD card memory. It has a 5 megapixel camera capable of 720p video recording and a 1.3 megapixel camera at the front. The device is also equipped with GPS, Wi-Fi and a 4000mAh batter good for four hours of video playback. The HTC Flyer also has an included stylus pen

Best Buy in the US placed the tablet at $299.99 as the "permanent lower price." At UK however they sell the HTC Flyer at £449. The device in Australia can be seen in internet listings with prices ranging between $545 AUS to $979 AUS.

The price cut can be seen as an effort for the Taiwanese company, HTC, as an attempt to clear their stock before the arrival of their 10 inch tablet called the Puccini. Sales of the device might be hindered by the recent revelation of a security vulnerability of HTC devices that might compromise user emails, passwords and other personal data.
