HTC has launched a new mobile phone that features a 4.7-inch screen and Dr.Dre's Beats Audio technology.

HTC announced the next-generation Sensation at a launch event in London. The Sensation XL model is specifically geared for users who use their mobile phones to play music.

"People are eager to have a new era of mobile audio," HTC CEO Peter Chou said. "We really want something to fix that degradation of the digital music."

The Sensation is the second HTC smartphone to be released with the Beats Audio technology. HTC had invested $300 million in Dr.Dre's Beat Electronics. The company produces quality headphones for music devices. The Sensation XL will ship with a pair of Beats headphones.

"Great audio is no longer an experience that consumers are willing to sacrifice when purchasing a phone," said Jimmy Iovine, Chairman of Beats by Dr Dre. "The digital revolution has been great for everything but music."

The XL will run on a single-core, 1.5Ghz Qualcomm MSM processor with a 4.7 inch display that is larger than most smartphones. Other features include an 8 megapixel camera capable of taking 720p HD video with dual speakers that record in stereo. The XL also comes with a dual LED flash and a wide-angle lens.

The XL has 16GB of internal storage, of which 12.6GB is available for use. It has 768MB of RAM. The device weighs 162.5 grams with the battery, which HTC says will provide power for between 250 and 710 minutes of talk time on a Global System for Mobile Communications network.

The HTC Sensation XL will be available in Europe and Asia Pacific in November. HTC said the pricing on the phone will be determined by carriers.
