HTC One is a crucial device carrying the future of its maker and is expected to change tide, refining the design to near perfection. HTC hired the best engineers and put every single effort to create a groundbreaking device to compete with Samsung's Galaxy S4.

Design
In a world of plastic Androids, HTC One makes a difference with its gorgeous, slender, and slight curved body. The device feels comfortable to hold and operate with 0.37-inch thickness and 143g well-balanced weight.

The device is made from aluminium with two tiny strips of plastic on the back for better signal. Two speakers are on top and the bottom for delivering the best sound experience and it has two capacitive buttons and physical buttons for volume, lock and InfraRed blaster.

Screen
Best screens is one the specialty of HTC, and the company met , expectations with the 4.7-inch Super LCD 3 display with 1080 x 1920 resolution. The screen is extremely sharp and detailed due to 468ppi. Colours delivered by HTC One are stunning with great contrast and viewable in almost every angle.

Sound
The HTC One has two front speakers, but do not expect they are just decorations. The device delivers an astounding sound dreamt by many from their smartphones. Thanks to the built-in amplifier and the rock out 93db loudness, it provides depth and rich overall sound profile even at the top of the volume.

HTC One and Beats Audio software had done something magical for music lovers and movie watcher about the importance of sound and listening experience on a mobile device.

The same principles apply on calls, and HTC gave an importance on every call quality you'll make. The sound coming from the top speaker grill is loud and clear, and the other side of the line has the same result, easily recognisable voice. HTC One also has dual microphones for noise cancellation which isolates background noises during a call.

Camera
The most exciting feature of HTC One is the "ultrapixel" principle used on its camera. The ultraPixel is a fancy name HTC made up for its 2-micron pixels that are larger than on most other smartphones. The sensor is the same size as the one in rival modules but is used for only 4.3 instead of 8 or 13 MP. HTC One sensor has a backside-illuminator and another an LED flash.

The camera records 1080p videos, tweaked by stunning amounts of settings from HTC Sense 5.0, and still photos becomes alive with the HTC Zoe feature.

Downsides

Design: The overall design is elegant and the material used defines another masterpiece, but HTC One lacks a multitasking button replaced by double tap of the home key instead. The InfraRed button was a bit stretched located at the top area. It is preferable to have an IR control at the side for easy reach.

Screen: No one will believe how beautiful the HTC One show colours and images in perfect definition. HTC One toned down the maximum brightness and the screen is slightly dimmer compared to the iPhone 5. The reflections on the panel might make using the device in direct sunlight a bit difficult.

Camera: HTC One changed the meaning of still photos with the HTC Zoe feature, but the "ultrapixel" just got a little bit too hyped. HTC One has a camera for a smartphone but not exactly a match for real digital cameras.
