To remain in the race against Motorola's 'Turbo Charger' and its new DROID Turbo, HTC is preparing to release its new 'Rapid Charger 2.0,' which is said to cut the charging time by 40%.

Most of the tech savvy people or smartphone based people start their morning with connecting their smartphones to a charger and usually are seen giving their smartphones a charging boost here and there throughout the day. HTC other than Motorola is one company which seems to be working for smartphone based lives and saving time by its new Rapid Charger which saves the charging time up to 40% for certain HTC flagships, the company says so.

These HTC flagships include, the HTC One M8, HTC One EB, HTC One Remix, HTC One M8 Harman Kardon Edition, and HTC Desire EYE. Although, the Rapid Charger is compatible with all micro USB system smartphones or tablets, but only above listed smartphones get benefit from the device.

The rapid Charger 2.0 is a 15W plug charger, faster than standard smartphone chargers. HTC device is built by using Qualcomm Quick charge 2.0 technology. The Rapid Charger 2.0 on supported HTC flagship will bring a 60% charge to a 3300 mAh battery in just 30 minutes.

Qualcomm's Quick charger2.0 technology was born last year with the Snapdragon 800 SoC and obviously it works with newer available Snapdragon chipsets. However, the Rapid Charger 2.0 will also work with the HTC One M7, as it supports the Quick Charge 1.0; just don't get too greedy with the rapid results.

Unfortunately, the company hasn't said anything about when the Rapid Charger is going to release and how much it is going to cost. Though, assumingly we may say by seeing the Motorola's Turbo Charger which is currently selling at $34.99 that HTC Rapid Charger will also go on sale with approximately same price tags.

Though, much cannot be said about the charger's fate and it is good to see more of the smartphone companies are working in this direction. However, HTC is yet not any close to beat Motorola's Turbo Charger which gives the smartphones like Google Nexus and Motorola DROID Turbo an eight hours charge in just 15 minutes.
