Huawei has proved its high-quality smartphones with its launch of Google Nexus 6P and also sealed a deal to make Nexus 7. Recently, Huawei launched another flagship device, Mate 8, at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, and it has already been seen as a competitor for iPhone 6S.

Huawei prides itself by unveiling the Mate 8, calling it the "ultimate high-end smartphone". According to the company, the device carries a long battery life and high performance thus striking a perfect balance.

Huawei Mate 8 was launched much later than the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6s Plus, so the question is, can Mate 8 beat both devices? Let’s see.

Look and feel

The Mate 8 has a bigger screen as compared to the Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6s Plus. The screen of Mate 8 is so large that almost 83 percent of the front panel is used up. However, when it comes to feel, Mate 8 is lightweight.

"The M8 is a 6-inch that's big and bright but feels surprisingly light in the hand, fitting nicely, thanks in part to that curved metal backing, an ergonomic touch few companies offer," reads Brian Heater’s review on the phablet.

Power and performance

Although the Mate 8’s benchmarks are not released yet, considering its pre-launch benchmarks, the phablet contains more raw power than the Galaxy Note 5. While in multi-core benchmarks, Galaxy Note 5 defeats the iPhone 6s Plus. However, in terms of performance, iPhone beats Samsung’s device in single-core operations.

Huawei Mate 8 is powered by the Kirin 950 chipset and rated to deliver 100 percent more CPU performance than Kirin 925 processor. Moreover, Kirin 950 provides 125 percent more GPU power than its predecessor.

The Mate 8 packs a 4,000 mAh high-density battery and has fast charging capabilities. The phone can charge itself within 30 minutes that can last for an entire day.

Camera

On the camera front, the Mate 8 beats out the iPhone 6s Plus with 16MP rear camera and 8MP front-facing camera. The Mate 8 shooters beat the Apple device in raw resolution.

Display

Both Mate 8 and iPhone 6S Plus share the same resolution of 1,080 x 1,920, but the Note 5 defeated both devices at 1,440 x 2,560. However, it would be unfair to declare which one is the best in this category unless more specifics on candelas and contrast ratios are learned.
