'Hunger Games' Sequel: Who Should Play Johanna Mason of 'Catching Fire'? [PHOTOS]
November 2013 is still a long way to go especially for fans of Suzanne Collins' best-selling novels, "The Hunger Games." While Gary Ross is still busy with a few behind the cameras details, fans of his first film adaptation are on their toes on whom he'll be signing on for a few lead roles namely Finnick Odair and Johanna Mason. So who is set to star as the nihilistic victor, Johanna Mason alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth?
While District 4's victor comes in the form of the handsome and easily likeable, Finnick Odair, District 7's tribute is a cunning and slightly psychotic female named Johanna Mason. With all the choices available in Hollywood, who is best suited to play the axe-murdering victor of "Catching Fire"?
A few fans are already one step ahead of Gary Ross with their exquisitely made graphics of their choices for the cunning victor of District 7. These include "Black Swan's'" Mila Kunis and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's'" Rooney Mara. Mila perfectly suits the description of Mason having wide set brown eyes and has an age close to Katniss Everdeen but its Rooney Mara who closely resembles Mason's spiky hair as mentioned by Suzanne Collins in the book.
Michelle Rodriguez might be a bit too old to play the part but given her acting stints, it would be easy for her to portray the headstrong yet self-loathing axe murderer. Another actress who might be a bit too old for the role but would still be possible to play Mason is Eliza Dushku of "Doll House."
Margarita Levieva who's been playing the role as the homicidal maniac on the television series, "Revenge" also poses a possibility of playing Johanna Mason. Joining her in the list would be "Clash of the Titans'" Gemma Arterton and "Merlin's'" Katie McGrath.
Sticking to an age appropriate group who could play District 7's victor would be "Glee's'" Naya Rivera, "Two Broke Girls'" Kat Dennings and "Gossip Girls'" Michelle Trachtenberg. Naya who is best known for her role as the spunky and outspoken Santana would definitely embody Johanna's' headstrong personality. The same goes for "Gossip Girls'" antagonist, Michelle Trachtenberg. On the other hand, Kat who is widely known for her comedic roles proves to be witty and cunning on her latest show which is just two of Johanna Mason's impressive abilities.
Given all the choices plus a few more fan-made suggestions, it's going to be a tough choice for Director Gary Ross on deciding who is worthy enough to play Johanna Mason.
