Last Monday, he emerged as the top winner of three APRA Awards. Above all, the singer expresses his gratitude for the song being a commercial success and still cannot help getting amazed with how popular his song has become.

The Australian singer is happy that there are still a lot of music lovers out there who are discovering the song. It makes him wonder all at the same time how people can then listen to just one piece of music repeatedly. He even came to a point that he wanted to say, 'there are other songs out there.'

Gotye SNL appearance and the Gotye Glee cover are just two of the many proofs of the singer and his hit song's popularity.

Other 'Somebody That I Used To Know' Trivia

It was written by Gotye, also known as Wally De Backer. The lyrics of the song tells a breakup story of a guy.

Gotye previously said that while he was writing the song, he felt that it would not have much appeal if there would not be any female vocals. And hence, Kimbra came in the collaboration. However, it might surprise fans to discover that she was not the first choice for the said part.
