Ian Somerhalder: 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Casting Not Upsetting for 'Vampire Diaries' Actor [PHOTOS]
Ian Grateful For Fans' Continuous Support
Casting for the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" film has already been finalized, but the name of "Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder is still constantly mentioned especially if the FSOG fan-favorite actor did not land the role of handsome billionaire Christian Grey.
In an interview with HuffPost Live, Mr Somerhalder revealed that he is not upset with the final casting decision and "unbelievably grateful" with the fan's continuous love and support. Marc Lamont Hill of HuffPost Live had the chance to talk to Ian Somerhalder about the FSOG casting and the heartthrob actor even revealed the reason why he never had the possibility of getting the role.
"Guys, I'm on a TV show that shoots 10 months a year," the 34-year-old heartthrob actor explained. His "Vampire Diaries" character Damon Salvatore is obviously keeping him really busy with the tight filming schedule in the Atlanta set.
However, Ian expressed gratitude to the thousands of fans who root for him as the male lead character Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" erotic film. "I'm so unbelievably grateful for all the support and all the cheering and all the love," Mr Somerhalder told HuffPost Live.
The actor further added that he was not surprised when he did not get the part and he was not upset when the official announcement about "Pacific Rim" and "Sons of Anarchy" actor Charlie Hunnam portraying the Christian Grey role has been made. "It's so funny, you read all these blogs that say, 'Ian Somerhalder angry, livid, he's not in 50 Shades of Grey.' I mean -- no, no, no. There's none of that," Ian revealed.
For months, Ian Somerhalder became a fan-favorite in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" casting polls for the Christian Grey role along with the other actors considered portraying the role like "White Collar" actor Matt Bomer and "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill. Andy Cohen of "Watch What Happens Live" interviewed Ian Somerhalder back in March about the much coveted role and the actor shared his thoughts.
"I think they have a very big job ahead of them, casting this role. So, I can't say anything other than, it's a very interesting story and whoever plays that role is going to have a lot of fun rehearsal time," Mr Somerhalder stated.
