On his Twitter account, actor Ian Somerhalder shared to his millions of followers his holiday experience in China. The 35-year old heartthrob actor is on a break from filming the CW TV series "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 where he portrays bad boy vampire Damon Salvatore.

During Ian's stay, the actor tweeted about an interesting thing that he found in his hotel room. "A neat feature of my Hotel Room in Shanghai:) http://instagram.com/p/iiXCXOKJ4D/," Ian posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder with the Instagram image attached.

Mr Somerhalder further shared his encounter with the gas mask when he shared another Instagram image wearing the item with his companions. Ian tweeted: Me and my brothers itsiklevynyc sleepingbowie in Shanghai breathing it in!!!!! http://instagram.com/p/iib6tXKJ75/

Ian Somerhalder has been really looking forward to this trip as he expressed his excitement on the social media site. "Later US soil-the far east I must go!I love love-see you soon China!The 21st century is truly amazing...The ability to move around like this and see you all.HOWEVER,I'm going to plant so many f'n trees in my life to make up for this absurd amount of carbon I'm using... BLEH! ;)," the actor's post read in the Cartermatt.com report before he headed to the Far East.

While Ian spent his holiday break in China, his "Vampire Diaries" co-stars Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley enjoy their time off in Sydney, Australia with other CW family like Claire Holt and Phoebe Tonkin of "The Originals." The Hot Hits report reads: "Both Nina Dobrev (Elena) and Paul Wesley (Stefan) have been photographed by fans out and about in Sydney.

The CW stars from the two hit TV series are on a vacation and not for a promotional trip so locals can expect the celebrities simply enjoying the sights and locations in Australia. Ian Somerhalder and the rest of the cast of "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" will resume working for the second half of the TV series in early 2014.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 returns with the 100th episode titled "500 Years of Solitude." The episode is scheduled to air on Thursday night, January 23, at 8 pm EST on the CW Network.
