To the viewers who found Damon Salvatore's torture on Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev) in "The Vampire Diaries" 100th episode was too much, actor Ian Somerhalder explains in the Zap 2 It report why his character wanted the Petrova doppelganger to suffer. Mr Somerhalder defends that Damon's actions were reasonable because of all of the horrible things that Katherine did.

"Damon wants Katherine as dead as a doornail because I think she reminds him of everything awful he's ever done. She taught him how to kill, taught him how to enjoy it. And I've learned that resentment is anger toward yourself for something you allowed to happen. I think Damon victimizes himself when it comes to Katherine, saying, 'She did this to me, she did that to me.' But in all actuality, he does have a point," explained the 35-year-old heartthrob actor while on the TVD set in Atlanta.

It looks like Damon vented his frustration over his break up with Elena (Nina Dobrev) on the vulnerable Katherine where he tortured her by reminding the people that she killed through hallucinations. The bad boy vampire also made Katherine experience again the day when she found her family murdered by Original hybrid Klaus.

Mr Somerhalder further added that Katherine turned Damon into the kind of person he is now. "She turned him into a monster, and he hasn't been able to stop," shared the actor. If Damon finds out that Katherine did the Traveller spell to live in Elena's body, expect his anger to flare up and monstrous side surface again.

"He hates her. And he just wants her gone. She causes a lot of problems," revealed Ian about his vampire character. Meanwhile, the Entertainmentwise report reveals Ian's excitement on being a part of the climate change documentary titled "Years of Living Dangerously."

The actor posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder: "Wow, @YEARSofLIVING cast check this out!Im very stoked about this-just watched some of my episode.Really proud of it." Mr Somerhalder included the link to the IMDB movie database that revealed the full cast list.

"These are not cameo appearances. We wanted people who had a real commitment to this issue," revealed Ian about the celebrity appearances in the documentary.
