Ian Somerhalder: 'Vampire Diaries' Actor Reveals He is Naked a Lot on the Set, Pulling Pranks on Crew Members and Nina Dobrev

Actor Ian Somerhalder has revealed what his funniest moment is during the "Larry King Now" interview: being naked a lot on the "Vampire Diaries" set. The 35-year-old CW star admitted he got used to the state of being undressed and it resulted to playing pranks on the crew members and recounting the nude practical joke put on co-star Nina Dobrev.

"I'm naked a lot, and I really like to mess with the crew," Ian Somerhalder admitted. The TVD star explained that the crew members are tough, southern, Atlanta guys that are like his brothers or sisters.

"When I get out of bed or walk around: 'Hey, brother! How are you?' 'Get away from me, Ian'," the actor shared finding the scenario pretty hilarious. However, the Wet Paint report noted that the crew members are not the only ones Ian Somerhalder pulled a naked prank on at the "Vampire Diaires" set.

The actor has shocked his co-star Nina Dobrev, who portrays Elena in the CW TV series, with a naked practical joke using elephant ears while filming Season 3. According to the Entertainment Weekly report, the prank happened when Ian and Nina were filming the scene where naked Damon surprises Elena.

Nina Dobrev initially shared the nude prank story to EW but insisted to make Ian Somerhalder recount the full story. The TVD actor revealed that spent almost two days on the set completely naked filming Damon's scenes for Season 3, Episode 1.

"So our first AD Rudy, at like 8 o'clock in the morning, came up to me and says, 'Hey listen, I have an idea.' When Rudy has an idea, it's usually pretty good," Ian recounted. What Rudy wanted that time was for Ian to go to the prop master and make elephant ears.

What they wanted to see was Nina's reaction on their naked prank. "So what if I was completely naked and we had elephant ears and double-stick tape, and I put them on each of my thighs, and ultimately, she would be staring at a very small, young elephant," Mr Somerhalder shared.

The actor described Nina's reaction to be "f**king amazing" and even hoped that it was the one used in the edit. "It was such a natural 'Ohmygod!' reaction," Ian stated. Have a look at the video below.
