Ian Somerhalder of 'Vampire Diaries' Invites People to Join the CrowdRise Holiday Challenge 2013 [VIDEO]

Ian Somerhalder of "Vampire Diaries" is inviting people to join the CrowdRise Holiday Challenge 2013 fundraiser to support his beloved Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF) which aims to "empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures."

In 2012, Ian Somerhalder's ISF won the CrowdRise fundraiser when he emerged at the top of the leaderboard for raising the most money among all the other charities that joined the competition. ISF's goal was to raise $3,000 but they were able to raise money for up to $3,195.

Now, he is asking people to support him again in 2013 for his goal to raise $100,000 for ISF.

Ian is asking help from kind-hearted and generous individuals who care about the world we live in and want to make a change. By donating money to his fundraiser, you can make it happen. If ISF wins, the funds raised will go to expansion of the ISF programs to empower individuals, especially the youth to make informed decisions and create solutions to problems and issues affecting the world. Part of the money will also go to the building of the ISF Animal Sanctuary in Louisiana, Ian's home town.

Ian envisions the place to be an area where people can be educated about the pressing issues affecting the world, including environmental issues such as climate change and fossil fuels. He also sees it as a place to rehabilitate abused animals or be a home for those who were abandoned. Plus, he wants to teach bullied kids about compassion by teaming them up with abused animals and letting them interact with each other to slowly build trust, care and love between the two ill-treated species.

Unlike his birthday project, wherein he asks people to donate $35 in honor of his 35^th birthday on Dec. 8, 2013, the CrowdRise Holiday Challenge 2013 fundraiser to support ISF will accept all kinds of monetary donations, no matter how big or small.

The CrowdRise Holiday Challenge 2013 fundraiser will run from Nov. 18, 2013 (12:00pm ET (Eastern Time)) to January 9, 2014 (11:59:59am ET).
