iPad Mini 2, iPad 5 Screens from Samsung, More Feature Leaks & Future of Gaming Going to Apple Products?
Apple and Samsung have been engaged in a neck-on-neck battle for the release of smartphones, tablets, and other electronic gadgets, but it seems that they're teaming up on one thing.
According to the latest roundup of leaks, it was reported that the next iPad Mini--iPad Mini 2 Retina or iPad Mini Retina, depending on the name implied--and the iPad 5 will feature high resolution displays.
And these displays, reports Gotta Be Mobile, will be a Samsung-manufactured display with a 2080 x 1536 reported resolution and a 7.9-inch screen.
The two Apple devices are said to be slated for release come the latter part of the year. If this holds true, the next question would be whether or not Samsung will also release its own line of devices featuring the same retina display, and with what other benefits that would set it apart from Apple.
More features leaked for the iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5
Aside from the rumors about a Samsung-manufactured retina display, other features have also been recently leaked, starting with the next iPad Mini's slightly altered camera. However, the leaked images do hint that there will be an iPad Mini 2 and that production may not be far from now.
Though if this would corroborate with past rumors that the iPad Mini 2 will come after the iPad 5, that would imply that the iPad 5 will also be out this year and an at earlier date at that.
Although Gadgets NDTV does point to a potentially leaked iPad 5, which is an image of the device's cover. From what can be inferred from the image, the report adds that there may be a thinner bezel, supporting previous rumors, as well as an altered camera and a rear microphone at the top back portion of the device.
Gaming with the iPad 5 & iPad Mini 2?
With previous reports of the iOS 7 pointing to Apple's potential step into the gaming industry, it seems that the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2 can be bearers of this feature.
Phones Review reports that while Microsoft and Sony are now hard at battle with next-gen consoles set for release this holiday season, there is a new breed that's been fairly growing in the gaming department.
Mobile gaming has always been in the background, but with increasing capabilities and specs, especially with the iOS 7's newest gaming feature and software for developers, Apple's first step into the gaming industry may actually be a battle against existing handheld consoles.
As far as mobile gaming is concerned, it's highly unlikely that it can replace home consoles anytime soon. But handheld gaming--especially during travels or commutes--mobile gaming are pretty much becoming standard, particularly for casual gamers.
With Apple's technology now turning its eye toward gaming, what may pose as a threat to the likes of Sony and Microsoft would be the future development of Apple with regard to home consoles. In the same manner that the Xbox One is offering entertainment, gaming, and more, Apple may introduce a fully-integrated system of gaming, both for casual and hardcore gamers, who may also be avid fans of Apple products.
It's nice to see this kind of competition in the gaming industry, but the next focus would be on how Apple may utilize this newfound niche.
