iPhone 5 vs. Asus PadFone 2: Which Smartphone Should you Choose?
Taipei-based Asus is about to launch its latest device - Asus PadFone 2. This new smartphone will battle against other mobile devices that are currently in the tech market, especially the iPhone 5.
Asus is considered as an underdog in the market. But it gained recognition from making Google's latest tablet - Nexus 7.
Its new hybrid device, Asus PadFone 2, of the company boasts a larger 4.7-inch screen with a 1280 x 720 pixel display and also upgrades its processor to a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm. There is also 1GB of RAM and 13MP camera. It is also believed that the device will have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Tech giant Apple also released its flagship phone last month, which features a 4-inch screen, slightly bigger than earlier versions of Apple's device with 1136x640 pixel resolution, 4G/LTE connectivity, and iOS 6 mobile operating system.
Below is the comparison of the two smartphones:
Screen Display - iPhone 5 is equipped with 4-inch screen display. The phone handset itself has a 4.7-inch Super IPS+ capacitive multitouch display with a 1280x720 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 312ppi. However, the display of the tablet is 10.1 inch and 1280x800 pixel resolution.
Storage - iPhone 5 is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants. Asus PadFone 2, on the other hand, has the same setup of internal storage but with a MicroSD slot up to 32GB.
Processor - iPhone 5 has quad core A6 chip. The ASUS Padfone 2 is powered by Qualcomm's S4 (Series 4) Pro quad core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.
Operating System -iPhone 5 is running with iOS 6 mobile software. However, the new Asus PadFone 2 comes with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which is upgradable to Jelly Bean.
Camera - iPhone 5's 8 megapixel camera will go against Asus PadFone 2's 13MP shooter and 1.2 MP front camera.
iPhone 5 is now available in various carriers and in Apple Stores. However, there is no word yet from Asus as to when it will release its new smartphone.
