iPhone 5S, 5C No Match to New Breed of Motorola Droids - Report
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C were seemingly outshone by the new variants of Motorola Droid smartphones despite the reliable new Touch ID fingerprint scanner, the top of the line camera and the host of improvements to Siri that came with the iOS 7 handsets, a new report said.
In a new assessment issued by Consumer Reports, the fresh batch of Droids earned higher scores for its battery life, bigger screen sizes, Active Notifications and software features like Google Now.
The two iPhones' small screen, although bright and sharp, is no match to the bigger and sharper displays of handset models from HTC, LG and Samsung. Also, even though the new Apple handsets' talk time significantly improved to a tad less than 7 hours, it remains notably shorter than the Droid Maxx talk time of more than 24 hours.
Meet the Motorola Droids: Maxx, Ultra, and Mini
Motorola Droid Maxx - priced at US$300 has 5-inch high definition (720p) display and one of the largest-capacity batteries according to spec, compressed into a smartphone at an incredible 3 500 mAH. This droid proves to be a marathon performer with its talk time of more than 24 hours.
Motorola Droid Ultra - priced at US$200 is approximately 0.3 inches and known to be the slimmer version of Motorola Droid Maxx. Although many of the features are the same with the Maxx, the slimmer contour means less talk time but the battery life remains notably impressive.
Motorola Droid Mini - priced at US$100, the Motorola droid mini neither has Droid Maxx's incredible battery life nor Ultra's slim contour. However, it packs a number of features of the two other Droids with its 4.3-inch display.
These Droids are compatible with Google Now which takes voice control to a higher level with its touchless control. The voice recognition feature allows users to make calls, ask for directions and more without actually touching the phone. The Active Notification enables users to set-up power saving alerts that fade in and out, including clock, calendar, messages, mail and more.
Users can also set the notifications only during certain periods or send the notifications directly to the computer. These Droids are also smart about interpreting gestures into commands like a quick twist in the hand to launch camera.
