iPhone 5S Release vs Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG Nexus 5 Releases – Is the Apple iOS at a Disadvantage?
The iPhone 5S release date might fall around the same time as the release of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG Nexus 5. Two mighty Android devices are cutting out some chunk off the market pie. Does this put the Apple iOS at a disadvantage?
Gone are the days when the iPhone is the only ultimate super smartphone acknowledged by experts. The iPhone 5S is still a much-anticipated phone, but so are the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and LG Nexus. Thanks to the rep built by its predecessors (Note 2 and Nexus 4), the Android handsets coming out this fall are expected to draw raves, too.
The Nexus 5 release is largely surrounded by speculations reported in tech blogs. But its release is expected later this year, around the time of the Nexus 4 anniversary. For his part, CEO Tim Cook has hinted Apple will hold some exciting unveiling later this year. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3, meanwhile, is expected to debut this fall. Androidandme reported, "The Note series is Samsung's big fall release, and there's no way it will be on display at Premiere 2013 (Samsung's big event in June)."
There are several factors that could possibly put the iPhone 5S at a disadvantage. Here are just three of them:
1. Android is becoming more popular. The success of Samsung Galaxy 3 in 2012 combined with reports of "high demand" for the LG Nexus 4 paint the picture that these smartphones could be better than Apple. (And many reviews say they are.) As a result, phone shoppers who used to believe the iPhone is the most coveted phone are now divided.
2. Gadget users are getting tired of carrying around a tablet and a smartphone. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users take pride in having one smart device for multiple functionalities. Many phone shoppers still frown at extra large phone displays. But a lot of them are becoming more curious, too.
3. It is widely expected the iPhone 5S will not deliver huge improvements (similar iPhone 4S story). Rumours indicate it could come with the latest Apple operating system, the iOS 7. But this is not enough for those desiring some radical enhancements in their smartphone experience.
Add to the three above these other user concerns: jailbreaking Apple, exploring stock Android, having a removable battery, enjoying a more robust system, experiencing the S-Pen exclusive apps, and a lot more. Suffice it to say, the latest Android smartphones are on fire when it comes to innovative ideas. The pressure is on for Apple, particularly the iPhone 5S this fall.
