The coming clash between the rumoured iPhone 6 from Apple and Galaxy S5 from Samsung is brewing to be a classic heavyweight match for 2014 and new renders of the handsets afford us an exciting glimpse of the bruising battle.

True to their promises as the dominant smartphones of the future, the iPhone 6 and GS5 concepts radiate eye-popping designs that highlight of a near-identical slimmed down profile on the outside and a beast that packs brutish power from the inside.

Thanks to DeviantArt, Concept Phones showed off a stunning visualisation of the supposed large-screen mobile phone from Apple, its front window spanning up to 4.8-inch or way beyond Apple's current 4-inch standard.

If this device will mark the company's long-anticipated entry into the global phablet, then Apple is doing it with panache while keeping its deeply established identity.

In admiring the mock up, it is undeniable that the design author meticulously adhered to the iPhone template - as reflected on its solid build that relies on unibody metal chassis. The seemingly seamless fusion of the case materials is very apparent, fittingly accentuated by a sprawling screen with edges that are pushed to close beyond the line of sight.

Margins on the top and bottom portions of the screen were also reduced when compared to the iPhone 5S, providing more space for the display panel, which is expected to beam out a much improved Retina resolution from its predecessor.

Conspicuously absent is the iconic Apple Home button, which in the 5S has morphed into a circular design that is now the gateway for the device's tougher security protocol. The whole mechanism, coated in sapphire, is dubbed as Touch ID by Apple.

Inside the iPhone 6's thin and light frame are the upgraded components, headlined by the A8 processing chip that analysts said will power the handset. And like the 5S before it, this CPU is armed with 64-bit computing capabilities.

And the same serving will be seen in the GS5 if Samsung is to be believed. Such engineering prowess, according to the concept from SimOnlyRadar.nl and picked up by Concept Phones, will be housed in a super-thin casing that underscores is sexiness through an edge-to-edge screen.

The screen technology of this lean monster remains in the Super AMOLED sphere, flashing its crystal-clear rendition in a 4.8-inch display screen. This GS5 draws it might on a 1.9GHz Exynos 5 Octa processor, tapping from 2GB of RAM for its efficient operation.

The camera mix is 16MP on rear and 2MP on front with 32GB as the basic internal storage configuration. As the usual case for Samsung, there is a provision for memory expansion via the microSD card slot.

The render creator believes that Samsung is pushing for its in-house mobile OS Tizen in rolling out the GS5 though most bloggers are convinced that two versions will come out - one running on Tizen and the other on Key Lime Pie or Android 5.0.

In its tussle with the iPhone 6, the GS5 will have to deal with the killer features that come embedded with Apple's iOS 7.

Release date for the iPhone 6, analysts said, will happen in the first quarter of 2014, which should be within the same period when the Galaxy S5 will debut.
