iPhone 6S, 6S Plus rumors: Major improvements like 3D Force Touch, support for over 2000 pixels resolution expected
The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6S Plus are slated to get unveiled on Sept. 9. Rumors are suggesting that both the handsets will be coming with major improvements to their displays.
One of the most hyped features of the upcoming iPhones is that both the handsets will be featuring Force Touch enabled displays. According to 9 to 5 Mac that cites familiar sources that Apple will be calling the Force Touch enabled screen as “3D Touch Display.”
The Force Touch feature on the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus will be able to detect three dimensions of pressure. Generally, the Force Touch feature present on other Apple devices such as the Apple Watch and the trackpad of the 12-inch MacBook (2015) can sense only two dimensions of pressure.
The 4.7-inch screen of the iPhone 6 (2014) supports 750 x 1134 pixels resolution and a pixel count of 326 ppi. The 5.5-inch screen of the iPhone 6 Plus (2014) supports a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels along with 401 ppi. A report from Phone Arena states that Apple will bring major improvements to the screen resolution of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.
A leakster with @KJuma Weibo account has revealed to the publication, the iPhone 6S will be coming with a 4.7-inch screen. However, it will be able to produce resolution of 1125 x 2000 pixels along with a pixel count of 488 ppi. The iPhone 6S Plus will arrive with 5.5-inch screen that offers a resolution of 1242 x 2208 pixel along with a pixel density of 460 ppi.
As of this writing, there is no confirmation from the Cupertino company on aforementioned enhancements to the displays of the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus. On Sept. 9, Apple is also rumored to launch a 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the iPad Mini 4.
