iPhones 5, 4S Remain Expensive Amidst iPhone 6, 5S Release Date Rumors
Despite the rumours flying around about the imminent release of the next iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S, previous iPhones continue to have hefty tag prices.
iPhone 5 and 4S prices remain on top amidst the rumours of the next generation of iPhones. In online retail giant, Amazon, an unlocked version of iPhone 5 costs over $700. Some even went as high as $900.
Despite the high prices, reports say that iPhone is still the best-selling smartphone of the year beating its rivals. Moreover, a new study showed that iPhones are more reliable compared to Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S3's price continues to drop before the highly anticipated launch of its successor - Samsung Galaxy S4. Samsung sent a cryptic message hinting the release of the much awaited Samsung Galaxy S4 on March 14. The invite drops clues that the Galaxy S4 is indeed the smartphone that will be unveiled on the unpacked event at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
US carriers seemed to be getting rid of their stocks as well as maximizing their profits for the popular handset.
A lot of listings offering cheap Samsung Galaxy S3 can be found in online retail giant Amazon. The pebble blue and marble white version of Samsung Galaxy S3 from Sprint is available for $0.01. The device may come with a two-year contract under the carriers although it is not specified in the description.
On the other hand, Apple is speculated to unleash the two handsets in August of this year and early next year. According to AppleInsider, Chinese company Foxconn, the manufacturer behind most of Apple's products, will exclusively produce the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S.
Apple are expected to include an improved camera in the iPhone 6 and/or iPhone 5S which is rumoured to be capable of taking "Super HD" pictures. In order to take snaps at that resolution it'll need to have at least a 13 mega-pixel camera.
The lack of NFC support on the iPhone 5 was one of the biggest criticisms aimed at Apple's smartphone. Rumours suggest that the iPhone 5S could include support for the contact-less technology which can be used to pay for items in retail stores. Other features rumoured to be included in the handset is the A7 quad core chip processor, Retina or IGZO screen display among others.
