It still remains a mystery on what lit up the Italian's northeast skies on Sept 3 at around 2:30 to 2:45 am.

The alleged "mystery fireball" was reported to have caused Italians a good mix of emotions between being entertained and scared too. Netizens said they heard a loud bang sound with thunder-like roars. It caused an "unsettled" stirring among pets in the neighbourhoods of Venice and Padua which made the owners call up for the police authorities to ask what has been the source of this phenomenon.

According to Il Gazzetino, most thought that it was a huge meteorite. But others still doubt it and think otherwise that it is a highly mysterious ball of fire.

Most Memorable Meteor Crashes on Earth

The oldest meteorite ever recorded on Earth is the Ensisheim Meteorite on Nov 7, 1942. It was called the same as the place where it crashed which was in Ensisheim, France. It was witnessed by a young boy when it shook an entire wheat field.

There's also the Peekskill Meteorite witnessed by Michelle Knapp on Oct 9, 1992. It landed on the trunk of her Chevy Malibu vehicle and eventually handed the football-size stone to the American Museum of Natural History.

In Illinois, a four-inch wide rock hit the roof of Colby Navarro's park Forest home on March 26, 2003. It was eventually discovered to be a part of a huge meteorite shower that rained on the entire area of Chicago.

Do you think this recent Italian mysterious fireball will also turn out to be just another meteorite?
