James Gandolfini 1961-2013: Robert Pattinson’s Ex, Kristen Stewart Promises to Keep “Jim” Close to Heart as She Remembers 'Rileys' Co-star
Robert Pattinson’s Ex, Kristen Stewart Breaks Silence on James Gandolfini’s Death as She Looks Back at their Top Moments, with Sadness
He had the love Mallory has been looking for in a family. while she reminds him of his late daughter; and Douglas Riley wanted to shower her with the love he failed to give his own daughter. This was the relationship James Gandolfini and Kristen Stewart and their characters had in the 2010 film, Welcome to the Rileys. This was the kind of bond that was developed off-screen after their successful collaboration in the hit drama film. His death has brought Robert Pattinson’s ex-girlfriend the kind of sadness she never thought would feel with Gandolfini’s untimely death.
The love between Robert Pattinson’s ex-gf, Kristen Stewart and the late actor, James Gandolfini, has developed to something more meaningful after filming Rileys. Jim, as Kristen calls him, will always be close to her heart, said the actress.
Six days after The Soprano star died of heart attack in Italy, Kristen broke her silence and reached out to Gandolfini’s family to send her love. The Speak actress released a statement - - a very heartfelt one - - expressing her love and sadness for the great loss.
"When I heard of James' passing I was in New Orleans, where we met shooting, and every memory flooded back and gutted me," Kristen said in a statement she sent to Entertainment Weekly.
Kristen’s grief was a rare display of her emotion as she is known to keep to herself, just like ex-beau, Robert. But she has had a strong relationship with James, known best for his role as Tony Soprano.
Kristen and Jim, as she likes to call James G., met on the set of Welcome to the Rileys and they developed a relationship that grew out of their roles as Mallory and Doug.
E! Online: “In the film K.Stew plays Mallory, a 16-year-old stripper and sometime hooker who's befriended by a lonely father mourning the loss of his child who wants to help her out of her self-destructive situation. So he ends up paying Mallory to stay with her in her rundown house, setting up an unusual and poignant father-daughter tale.”
James and Kristen’s mutual admiration (though, both may not be aware in the beginning) has come to fore with their “mutual introversion” as Entertainment Weekly described it: “Neither one was a big talker, and each was famous for a character that created obsessive, sometimes intrusive fans. He was the Emmy-winning star of The Sopranos, she was the lead of the teen-girl-crazed Twilight saga.”
Kristen revealed what she had liked the most in James when she met him in 2009.
“Jim was … the sh-t,” she said with a laugh after struggling for a moment to find the right word. “He’s quiet. We got along well because we let it happen the way it’s supposed to. It was very organic, very cool,” Kristen said in an interview with USA Today, according to Entertainment Weekly.
James for his part has always been on the same page with Kristen in this irony in character and what she liked about him the same way he adores in Kristen.
“Kristen Stewart is one of the mad ones. But mad in a beautiful way,” he wrote. “And she is determined to make people mad. To show them she is more than Bella in Twilight. To show them she does burn, and smolder, and wants more out of her career and life. And smolder she does,” James said in an article he wrote for Variety, giving his take on Kristen’s performance in On the Road.
James continued in the article, “intertextualizing” Kristen in many of her roles in different projects - - from On the Road to Welcome to the Rileys.
James wrote: “As soon as she steps into the movie “On the Road,” you can’t take your eyes off her. As Marylou, whenever she fixes her gaze, you see someone who will go as far as she can, and do it as mad as she can, to live and feel alive. And it is sexy and scary and reckless and smart. She can play all of these things. She has them at her fingertips. She is just beginning. She is fearless. And that can be that good, and that can be very bad. But she is smart enough to handle it.”
With his death, James has left for Kristen the kind of love and respect not too many costars are able to provide and receive. And to this, Kristen asserted that she will keep James in her heart.
Kristen said, “The "I'll hold that time near to me forever. He was immeasurably great. My heart goes out to his beloved family."
James Gandolfini died of heart attack at the age of 51, while on vacation with son Michael in Rome, Italy. Family and friends are gathering at a funeral service for the actor at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City on Thursday, June 27, 2013.
