Jamie Foxx Faces Criticism On Twitter For His Transgender Joke On Bruce Jenner During iHeartRadio Music Awards
Jamie Foxx has found himself at the center of serious criticism after making fun of the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star Bruce Jenner on national television. The actor-comedian, who hosted the Sunday night iHeartRadio Music Awards, is bashed on social media because he made a joke that hinted that Jenner is a transgender. The 65-year-old Olympian is rumoured to have undergone sex change surgery but he has not confessed to it.
"We got Bruce Jenner, who will be doing some musical performances. He's doing a his-and-her duet all by himself," Foxx said during his opening dialogue at the awards night on March 29. The joke did not go well with the fans of the Olympian. They took to Twitter to bash the 47-year-old host of the program.
One Twitter user @KrystieLYandoli wrote that she does not want any “more Bruce Jenner jokes” because the “existence of transgender people isn't funny.” Famous celebrity blogger Perez Hilton too voiced his opinion about Foxx's jokes on Jenner. On Twitter, Perez criticised the "iHeartAwards for allowing @iamjamiefoxx to be transphobic on national television” and said that those “#BruceJenner jokes were wrong.”
It is not the first time Jenner has been made the target of jokes because of his looks. The ex-husband of Kris Jenner was the target of similar jokes during the shooting of the Justin Bieber's Comedy Central roast. His daughters, Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian, were also sitting in the audience when host Kevin Hart targeted the Olympian.
"If you two get married, who is going to walk you down the aisle?" comedian Jeffrey Ross asked Kendall, who has been liked to Bieber. He also joked that the “only male left in the Kardashian clan is Khloe." Kendall's half-sister Kourtney Kardashian apparently felt offended by the joke and was seen making a gesture for him to stop, according to USA Today. It was earlier said that Jenner will sit down for a television interview and talk about all the changes in his life, but the interview is yet to take place.
