'Jane The Virgin' Season 1 Episode 13 Recap: Jane's Pregnancy Has A Complication

In this week’s episode of “Jane The Virgin,” Jane and Rafael go for a sonogram with the intention of learning the baby’s sex. Unfortunately, the test reveals that something may be wrong with the baby. Meanwhile, Rafael, Petra and Lachlan all have to deal with the Marbella’s financial problems. Rose is also busy acting like a distressed wife now that Emilio is missing. Here’s a recap of what took place on Episode 13.
Rafael and Jane are told that their baby might have a genetic abnormality. The test carries the risk of miscarriage, so Jane initially decides not to do it. After thinking it over, she decides to get the test done because she wants to be prepared in case she will be having a child with special needs. She will need to be on bed rest after the test, so she tells her family that she will be missing her graduation ceremony. Rafael decides to just stage a small ceremony in her bedroom to commemorate the occasion.
After the test, Rafael and Jane spend several hours fearing that the baby might have been affected. Jane eventually feels the baby move again, and they are able to relax until the test results come in two weeks.
Also in Jane’s home, Xiomara is doing her best to encourage Rogelio to move on. He was fired from his telenovela job and he has been sitting around, waiting for offers to come. Xiomara tells him to try harder and to audition for parts instead of just waiting for the calls to come in. Rogelio decides to become less critical about potential jobs and lands a lead role in a new show. Unfortunately, he will need to move to Mexico for a year and a half. He tells Xo about the offer and he says that he will have to make a decision if he can move away.
Meanwhile, over at the Marbella, Lachlan tells Rafael that the Marbella is losing money. Rafael decides to sell a part of the hotel in order to bring in some money. What he didn’t know was that Petra’s ex Milos was behind the company that offered to buy the hotel. When Lachlan dumps Petra, Milos swoops in and tells her that they can own part of the hotel together as long as she takes him back.
Elsewhere in the hotel, Michael and Nadine are interviewing Rose and Rafael in connection with Emilio’s disappearance. They all agree that he could be the criminal “Sin Rostro” but none of them have solid evidence. Of course, only Rose knows that Emilio is innocent because she is “Sin Rostro” and has been setting him up. She has killed him to cover her tracks and keep the police looking in Emilio's direction. Unfortunately for her, Michael finds out from Emilio’s former assistant that he had a mistress. The interview with the mistress reveals that Rose has been lying to the police and Michael finally figures out that she is the criminal. However, before he can arrest her, she manages to escape. The search for both Rose and Emilio resumes in the next episode of “Jane The Virgin,” which airs next Monday on the CW at 9:00 p.m.
