'Jane The Virgin' Season 1 Episode 20 Recap: Jane And Rafael Find Out The Baby Is Breech And Luisa Returns
This week on episode 20 of “Jane The Virgin,” the baby is getting so much bigger and Jane encounters yet another childbearing problem. Meanwhile, she also needs to deal with her own and her mom’s love life. A key character also returns and affects everyone else with her presence. Here’s everything that took place in episode 20:
Luisa reappears at the Marbella
Luisa returns from Peru after having been suspected of running away with Sin Rostro, her ex-lover. She reveals that she could never go back to the criminal who murdered her father and she has been hiding out in Peru to get over her. She also introduces her new girlfriend, Juicy Jordan. Jordan is a pro wrestler and Luisa has an idea to help bring some money into the hotel.
Luisa takes back control of her shares in the hotel and becomes a swing vote between Petra’s timeshare and Rafael’s loan ideas to keep the hotel afloat. With both of them trying to please her, she manages to have her way and stages a wrestling match between her girlfriend and her rival, Candy Crush.
Alba tells Jane what happened the night of the accident
After seeing Magda back at the hotel, Alba remembers exactly what happened the night of her accident. She was angry at Petra for being nasty to Jane during the Paloma Awards, so she went to confront her. The door to Petra’s room was opened by her mom Magda. Alba saw Ivan tied up in the room calling for help. Alba tried to run away but Magda caugt up with her and pushed her down the stairs.
Jane is furious and completely shocked to see that Magda is now working in the Marbella kitchen. She confronts Petra and tells her to get her mother out of the hotel. Alba is afraid to tell the police because she is an undocumented immigrant and Magda threatens to expose her. This leaves Jane no choice but to approach Michael for help.
Michael steps up for Jane
Michael asks Petra and Magda to come in for questioning. Before facing Michael, Magda tells Petra why she pushed Alba and they come up with a story. They corroborate each other’s alibi and Petra goes to Milos for help. When Jane manages to find a photo of Ivan, Petra manages to save herself by having Ivan pretend to be a plumber who was called in that night.
Even though the case could not be solved, Michael and Jane become closer due to the investigation and Rafael doesn’t like it. With Jane and Michael getting closer again, Petra is also hell bent on trying to get Rafael back.
Villanueva women and their crazy love stories
While Rafael struggles with his decision to let go of Jane, Xiomara is also struggling with her breakup with Rogelio. He is still unable to forgive her for kissing Marco, so he refuses to speak to her. Jane tries to get them to talk, but Rogelio just won’t accept Xiomara’s explanation. He is also distracted by his new job. He has been asked back to play the lead of his former telenovela, “Passions of Santos.” His former writer came crawling back after their ratings went down. He is happy to go back to the life he sacrificed when he got together with Xo.
Alba also has her own problems with her love life. She has been avoiding her friend Edward from her physical therapy sessions. She is embarrassed that she asked him out before finding out that he is a priest. He tells her to relax and they go out to lunch. Unfortunately, Edward tells her that he’s fooling himself if he thinks they can only be friends.
Jane and Rafael deal with baby issues
While all this craziness is going on, Jane is still angry at Rafael for dumping her. She tries to be civil and they go to doctor’s appointments together. They find out that the baby is breech and Jane is forced to go through various rituals and remedies to get the baby to turn. When the baby finally gets in the right position, Jane also has a moment of clarity. She realises that Rafael is not a good person for a baby to be around. His sister is a known associate of the murderer, Sin Rostro. Likewise, his hotel partner is his ex-wife who is an accomplice to the attempted murder of Jane's grandmother.
Jane calls on her mom and her grandmother to help her with the child once it comes. She tells them that she is now determined to seek sole custody of the child. What happens next and how Rafael will react will be revealed when the last two episodes of “Jane The Virgin” air in the coming Mondays at 9 p.m. on the CW.
