'Jane The Virgin' Spoilers: Bridget Regan Speaks About Her Character Rose And Being The Villain 'Sin Rostro'

In the new hit comedy series “Jane The Virgin,” the main protagonist is Jane Gloriana Villanueva. From the first episode, she has had to deal with a few antagonists, but the big bad villain has only been spoken about and not seen until the last two episodes. “Sin Rostro,” the notorious big time criminal, has recently been revealed to be Rose, Rafael’s stepmother. Bridget Regan, the actress who plays Rose, speaks about the role and how she feels about being the show’s main villain. [Warning: Spoiler Alert!]
In the first few episodes, Jane’s ex-fiancé Michael has been investigating Rafael Solano and his family for the possibility of getting involved with a crime ring. When Rafael’s friend Roman Zazo turns out to have a connection with “Sin Rostro,” Michael starts to suspect Rafael. Zazo turned up dead early in the season and the whole mess started making the police believe “Sin Rostro” or the man with no face might be Rafael’s dad, Emilio. In episode 12, it was revealed that the notorious criminal is actually Rose, Rafael’s stepmother and Emilio’s wife. Incidentally, Rose is also Luisa Solano's lover.
In an interview with TV Fanatic, Bridget Regan, who plays Rose, revealed that she was shocked as well as thrilled when she learned that she is actually the show’s big villain. “The big bad-ass villain of the season is a woman and it’s me. I was thrilled,” Regan said. She also revealed that she was not initially aware that the story would take such a twist. After finding it out, she started to piece things together from clues that were laid down from previous scenes.
“The most interesting thing for me about playing Rose is the conflict with Luisa and her feelings for her, because those are 100 percent real," said Regan. Rose is not only the stepmother of Rafael and Luisa, she is also Luisa’s lover. She shares that in episode 14, Rose and Luisa’s back story will be tackled as well as how she went about her plan to get the family involved after meeting Luisa’s father, Emilio.
“Jane The Virgin” show runner Jennie Snyder Urman also confirmed that Rose really loves Luisa. However, she told Vulture that because it is a telenovela, there will be another big twist at the end of a season which roots from Rose and her feelings for Luisa.
