San Francisco 49er rookie Jarryd Hayne is looking to spend the remainder of his season in the team’s inactive roster, which sparked speculations that “Hayne Plane” will be taking flight back to the National Rugby League. But the Aussie rookie brushed off the rumours as he is set to fulfill his American dream of playing in the NFL.

A report surfaced that Hayne may be heading back to Australia to play for the NRL, with his manager Wayne Beavis spotted talking to Sydney Roosters boss Nick Politis. But the 27-year-old punter laughed off those reports by launching a funny instagram post of him along with Roosters legend Brad Fittler and former Parramatta Eels strengthening guru Hayden Knowles.

"With a Roosters trainer and legend. That's an exclusive Mr wilder (sic) top story Mr Richfield (sic). Just wish uncle was here," Hayne captioned on his Instagram post.

Beavis confirmed last week that there is no way Hayne would be going back to NRL following the former Eel’s NFL setback. However, according to the Daily Telegraph, the Roosters are believed to be keeping their eyes on Hayne and his progress with the 49ers. The report also indicated that the Roosters have money to spend for Hayne with the club’s need to replace fullbacks Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and James Malone.

Hayne has been overlooked by the 49ers coaching staff despite injuries suffered by primary punter Reggie Bush and top running back Carlos Hyde. But Hayne’s moment at the team’s inactive roster could serve him well, according to David Fucillo of SB Nation’s Niners Nation.

“He returns to the practice squad to spend the rest of the season working on his techniques,” Fucillo wrote. “Now, he will continue working on developing the techniques that will allow him to improve as a return man, and become a more capable running back.”

Meanwhile, 49ers coach Jim Tomsula have confirmed that Hyde is still on a day-to-day prospect, according to News. But it is unlikely Hayne could suit up for San Francisco at running back position after the team signed veteran RBs Shaun Draughn and Pierre Thomas as replacements for Hyde.

Hayne’s only golden opportunity to don the No. 38 jersey again may only come if more injuries hit the 49ers. However, the team will have a much-needed bye this week, which could pave way for injured players to recover.
