Jarryd Hayne set to impress 49ers again in preseason
Jarryd Hayne could have another remarkable preseason with the San Francisco 49ers, with the team set to have an almost identical schedule from last year’s fixture.
The NFL has released its preseason schedule for all the 32 teams, with the 49ers and Hayne taking on clubs they have faced last year.
The 49ers will start week 1 of their preseason campaign against the Houston Texans, then will face the Denver Broncos in week 2. The third week will see San Francisco in action against the Green Bay Packers, and duel against the San Diego Chargers in the last week of the preseason.
It is worth noting that the preseason is where Hayne made a buzz in the world of NFL and got the attention of fans and the US media because of his skills and potential to be one of the 49ers’ RBs. And with the team set to face the three of the four teams they battled in last year’s preseason, Hayne has another chance to spend more time on the field and shine using his improved skills.
The most memorable game for Hayne during last year’s preseason was against the Texans, where the Australian rugby league star surged for a stunning 53-yard run in his second carry of his NFL career. An improved and partially experienced Hayne could make another head-turning performance, but the 28-year-old Aussie must familiarise himself first in Chip Kelly’s playbooks.
“This is all new for us," 49ers running back Carlos Hyde said of Kelly’s new schemes, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. "We're all starting off on the same foot with this offence. We're all trying to get a grasp of this new offence and all trying to learn day-by-day."
Hayne has returned to the United States to start his offseason workout with the 49ers. While Hayne has been able to acquaint himself in the game, it would be an entirely different setup for the NFL convert playing for Kelly.
