Jarryd Hayne under investigation for alleged links to Hell’s Angels member Chris Bloomfield
The lawyer of Gold Coast Titans NRL player Jarryd Hayne is accusing the police of unnecessarily targeting Hayne for his alleged links to 26-year-old Chris Bloomfield, reportedly a bikie gang member. On Friday, Bloomfield was fined $500 by the Southport Magistrates Curt after he placed a guilty plea to three counts of violating his bail conditions.
Less than two weeks ago, a Snapchat video of the two emerged wherein Hayne is seen handing $5,000 to Bloomfield. According to police, Bloomfield is also awaiting trial for extortion charges.
On Thursday, Bloomfield was arrested by Taskforce Maxima officers for breaching a bail condition that he should not go within 500 metres of an international point of departure. Bloomfield, allegedly a Hell’s Angels member, bought a plane ticket to Melbourne from a Gold Coast Airport counter on July 1 and returned to the same place after two days, reports Brisbane Times. He has permission to fly to Melbourne to visit his sick grandmother, but the permit was from the Brisbane Domestic Airport.
He had a third breach for the month for not reporting to the Broadbeach Police Station on Sept 1. However, Magistrate Gary Finger accept evidence that a medical condition stopped Bloomfield from going.
Hayne denies knowing Bloomfield. Adam Magill, Bloomfield’s lawyer, apologised to the NRL star for the scrutiny he is getting because of the video. Hayne is reportedly having a baby with 25-year-old Amellia Bonnici, a close friend he met through Instagram, reports Sydney Morning Herald. The pair reportedly are living together in Bonnici’s apartment in Gold Coast, according to New Idea magazine.
