Jessica Simpson Loses Post-Baby Weight, Reveals Weight Gain Criticisms Hurt Yet Empowered Her
Jessica Simpson on the "Today Show" spoke about her married life and the joys of being a mother. The newlywed told host Matt Lauer that she feels great after her post-baby weight loss.
She revealed that after the birth of her son Ace, she had put on a lot of weight and was criticised for her post-baby weight gain. She stated that it was a difficult time in her life and that all the mocking and the criticisms hurt her.
According to E! news, Jessica said that the comments had taken a toll on her emotionally. She stated that at times she would think about it and get emotional but it also motivated her to lose weight. The negative comments about her body empowered her and helped her get in shape, she said. "I just kind of wanted to be a champion for other women and say, 'We can do this,'" said Simpson.
Her aim was to stand up and be a role model to the many women who have weight problems. The actress clarified though that she did not want to shed her post-baby weight just for the sake of pleasing the public. She did not want to change herself for the media, she said.
Simpson also explained that she was aware that she had a lot of weight to lose, and now, after a lot of hard work, she was able to do so. When asked if her earlier tag of a sex symbol added more pressure on her to lose weight, she stated, "I don't think that I wasn't still a sex symbol, with the weight," she said. Jessica cheerfully told Lauer that for her husband she is always sexy, so it never really mattered.
Jessica's weight loss is not the only secret to her happiness, however. The "I Wanna Love You Forever" singer revealed that her married life has been extremely exciting. She explained that since she got pregnant again and had not expected it, Eric Johnson and she decided to tie the knot.
