Jim Carrey receives another lawsuit: Ex-girlfriend's mother claims actor gave Cathriona White illegal drugs and STDs
The mother of Cathriona White, Brigid Sweetman, is filing a case against Jim Carrey for causing the death of her daughter. She is also claiming the actor gave White at least three sexually transmitted diseases.
In a statement made on Tuesday, Sweetman said that Carrey should be “ashamed” of how he treated White. She went on to discuss how the 53-year-old comedian provided White with various prescription drugs that he obtained illegally, as well as SDS -- oral herpes, genital herpes and chlamydia.
"As a family, we want the world to know the truth about who Jim Carrey really is,” she said. “[He is] a man that will give your daughter three STDs, lie about it, call her terrible names and demean her, use his high priced lawyers to try and shut her and her family up and then give her illegal drugs."
Sweetman also brought up a handwritten note from White, which included descriptions of being called a “whore” and an “opportunist.” For those that doubt her on the personality and character of the actor, Sweetman extended an invitation to read White’s suicide letter.

"It is understandable that a mother who has lost a daughter will look for someone to blame,” Martin Singer, Carrey’s lawyer retaliated. He also shared that White was forced to leave home at the age of 15 and has since had a “contentious relationship” with Sweetman. Singer claimed that the mother and daughter had been estranged for years before White’s death.
Sweetman is officially suing Carrey for wrongful death and a violation of the drug dealer liability act.

Sweetman’s lawsuit is coming just a few weeks after White’s estranged husband, Mark Burton, filed his own against the “Yes Man” star. Burton also claimed that Carrey caused his wife’s reported suicide by providing her with the drugs she consumed. White killed herself in September 2015 by taking several prescription drugs at one time. She was 30 years old at the time.
