J.K. Rowling questions why a fan could not see that Albus Dumbledore is gay. The famed author of the “Harry Potter” series mocks a fan when he doubted that Harry Potter’s mentor, Dumbledore is gay.

Even though the Rowling already told fans that the headmaster of the wizarding school Hogwarts is gay as early as 2007, one fan, Twitter user anakocovic21, still had the gall to question Rowling as to why this is so even though she “can’t see him in that way.” Rowling did not let the question passed and enlightened the fan through a short and dismissive response. "Maybe because gay people just look like…people,” she replied. Even though the said tweet has already been deleted, it has already been retweeted for more than 6,000 times. Rowling was widely praised for how she explained that bit.

Twitter user anakocovic21 is not alone in her questions though. Many were shocked when Rowling revealed that tidbit in 2007 and some are still having trouble digesting it until today. Members of the Big Brother 13 in U.K. even came into a row over it. Jeff Schroeder, one of the housemates, who never read the books or watched the movies, was appalled to learn that Dumbledore was gay and indirectly associated this as being a pedophile. He said he could not imagine why Rowling would write something like that in a children’s book. Kalia Booker, another housemate, said she does not see anything wrong with having a teacher who is gay and this got the two into a heated row, with Shroeder accusing Booker of just hamming it up for the cameras.

The famed author, who earned billions through the phenomenal series, first discussed Dumbledore’s sexuality with an audience through a Q&A in 2007, at the time of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” The author was asked about the headmaster’s love life and she answered she always thought Dumbledore was gay. She explained that the headmaster and Harry’s beloved mentor fell in love with Grindelwald, so when his love turned to be evil, Dumbledore felt horrified. "

She even told the mesmerized crowd that she had to clarify a script for the sixth film over this fact about Dumbledore. She said, "I was in a script read-through for the sixth film, and they had Dumbledore saying a line to Harry early in the script saying he knew a girl once [and] I had to write a little note in the margin and slide it along to the scriptwriter: 'Dumbledore's gay!' "
