Jose Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes has denied claims that his client has agreed to any deal to take over the reins at Manchester United, replacing Louis Van Gaal.

After getting sacked by Chelsea last week, Mourinho is constantly being linked with the manager’s position at Old Trafford, especially after the 20-time English champions dropped to 5th position following a 2-1 defeat to Norwich City at home and an exit from the group stage of the Champions League.

"There is nothing. We don't know what will happen in the future, but now there is no agreement. There isn't an official proposal either, that's not true." Mendes said to Globoesporte.

Despite the agent's denial, according to reports from ESPN, “The Special One” is keen to take on the United Job and is believed to be eager to manage in the Theater of Dreams.

It’s evident that the supporters of Manchester United are crying out loud for a new manager. After a defeat to Norwich in last week’s Premier League game, cries of Mourinho was heard in the stands of Old Trafford. The players were booed off the pitch after their three straight defeats and lacklustre football.

It’s strange how the winds change in the footballing world as it was only three weeks before when Van Gaal received full support from the United’s board. However, a series of six winless games since then have turned the tides against him.

United’s board gathered to hold a meeting on Tuesday, which raised speculations on the appointment of a new manager, however, it was later confirmed that the meeting was regarding the commercial matters of the football club.

Mourinho, is currently spending time in Portugal with his family, but, the Portuguese does not intend to keep out of a job for a long time and is willing to get back into football management as soon as possible.

On Wednesday, Van Gaal will be exposed to questions regarding his United future for the first time after Mourinho received his sack.

The Dutchman will appear for his press conference at the AON Training complex in Carrington at 3:30 pm GMT, Wednesday (Thursday, 2:30 AM AEDT).

United is set to travel to Stoke on Boxing Day before hosting the current league champions Chelsea on Dec 28.
