Josh Hutcherson Defends ‘Hunger Games’ Co-Star Jennifer Lawrence From Hacked Nude Photo Scandal
“The Hunger Games” star Josh Hutcherson has come out in defence of co-star Jennifer Lawrence over the nude photo-hacking scandal.
The 21-year-old American actor hasn’t spoken to the Academy Award winner yet, but he knows how devastating these scandals are.
He had also been involved in a nude photo leak scandal himself over a year ago. In July 2013, an alleged photo of him showing frontal nudity has made its way online. There had been no confirmation if the guy in the photo was indeed the actor.
“It’s f------ horrible,” he told The Daily Beast. “I haven’t spoken to her since it happened, but as far as the public, Twitter, and media have reacted, it’s awful.”
He described Lawrence as a “great friend” and his “big sister,” saying that they didn’t choose to have their private lives dissected in public.
“It makes you feel like you want to run away from it all and escape to a small island away from everybody.”
Hutcherson added in the interview how devastated he was when he didn’t get the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the superhero reboot film “The Amazing Spider-Man.” He was one of the three finalists, but the role eventually went to Andrew Garfield.
“That was one of the biggest heartbreaks in the world where I didn’t get Spider-Man,” he admitted. “I wanted it so bad. But then, I got ‘The Hunger Games’ a few months later, and was like, ‘F--- yeah!’ It all worked out.”
Speaking of Garfield, the 31-year-old British actor also has a few things to say about the celebrity-hacking scheme.
“It’s disgusting. It’s this violent, abusive violation of womanhood – of diving womanhood,” the 31-year-old actor told The Daily Beast.
“It’s violent, and it’s misogynistic, and it’s revolting, and it’s another example of what this distance has enabled us to do – it’s enabled us to be disassociated from each other.”
