'Jurassic World 2' production update and spoilers: Raptors with guns may be the new plot
The story for “Jurassic World 2” is being written by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, with Steven Spielberg giving his inputs in the capacity of the executive producer. A new report reveals that the plot of the new movie may involve Raptors turned into weapons of war.
[Spoiler alert]
Universal Pictures chief Donna Langley has revealed that Trevorrow is currently busy outlining the plot of the upcoming movie, Digital Spy repots. Following the success of his 2015 movie, the director has decided to helm “Star Wars: Episode 9.” J.A. Bayona was later selected to take Trevorrow’s place in the upcoming movie.
Trevorrow teased that the franchise will not be limited to showing dinosaurs in a theme park, and the plot revolving around them escaping. He pointed out that the applications of the cloning technology of the giant reptiles go far beyond that of entertainment.
“What if there are 15 different entities around the world who can make a dinosaur?” Trevorrow teased. The 2015 movie showed how Vic Hoskins (Vincent D’Onofrio) was keen on the military application of the dinosaurs, and with enough DNA samples having been stolen; it is possible that the Raptors will be used as machines of war in “Jurassic World 2.”
Trevorrow has said that the next movie will not be about a few dinosaurs chasing people on an island, as that storyline gets “old real fast.” He teased that the franchise will now move into “new territory,” and that the main task of the new director is to “push the boundaries” of what the franchise really is. He explained that the franchise will now have to either evolve or perish, and so they have to take some risks.
Chris Pratt (Owen) will be reprising his role as the Raptors taming hero in “Jurassic World 2,” along with fellow cast member Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire). The producers have so far not announced any plans to get Jeff Goldblum back into the franchise.
