'Justice League' release date & spoilers: Jeremy Irons gets candid about Alfred's interaction with new metahumans
“Justice League” will debut on cinemas worldwide on November 10, 2017
DC has a lot to catch up with its rival Marvel, and earlier in 2016, it has officially kicked off a cinematic universe of its superheroes with the release of “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” While the movie did well in the box office, a lot of fans were disappointed by its direction.
This response was not taken lightly by the folks behind the cameras and it is teased that there will be a “course correction” when “Justice League” comes out. However, fans should not expect drastic changes especially to the characters themselves.
Spoiler alert! This article contains “Justice League” spoilers.
The president of DC Films Geoff Johns revealed that “Justice League” will not be as gritty and shadowed as “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” However, he refused to divulge more specific details.
Whether or not this upcoming movie would be a departure from DC’s signature dark style remains to be seen when it comes out. While there is a growing trend toward making comic book characters carry that dark aura in the movies, there are some characters that appear stern and neutral. One of the most obvious is Batman’s Alfred.
Jeremy Irons, who will play Alfred in “Justice League,” revealed to Coming Soon how this apparent change in atmosphere will affect his character. He said that Alfred is “a stickler for staying the same,” adding that the trusty butler and confidante has been consistent in modulating everybody else.
Alfred does all this in his signature calm, gentle and English manner. He can deal with people who are capable of doing extraordinary things without being affected too much. While he lets Bruce Wayne out sometimes, he is still attached.
Irons adds that Alfred does not always agree with his boss, Bruce Wayne, but he will help whenever he can. He is not sure if audience would get to see a lot of him in the upcoming “Justice League” film since there are a lot of superheroes to showcase and develop. Alfred just happens to be the butler of one of them. While Alfred has already been confirmed to appear in the upcoming “Justice League” film, it should follow that fans would get to see him in the corresponding Batman solo film “The Batman,” which stars Ben Affleck.
“Justice League” will debut on cinemas worldwide on November 10, 2017. There are talks that a “Justice League 2” movie is in the pipeline but it will not be released until after “The Batman.”
