The final season of “The Vampire Diaries” will feature the crew going head-on with evil that none of them have ever encountered before. While doing this, they will also honour the show’s legacy as it comes to a close.
Show creator Julie Plec reveals that they have a lot of plans to pay tribute to all the efforts that they have put in for the show in the past. She notes that the plans outweigh the amount of space to accomplish everything, and they had a lot of fun just reliving their favourite moments and characters, as well as coming up with ways to reintroduce past elements of the show.
Some elements which Plec plans to bring back include the reintroduction of Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) and hints of the Mystic Falls carnival, Miss Mystic Falls and Founder’s Day, she said in interview with TV Guide. Each upcoming episode will be titled after notable dialogue lines from past episode which Plec and her team of writers hold dear.
In the cliffhanger, viewers saw how Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) decided to return to who he initially was and how Ric Saltzman’s (Matthew Davis) memories of Seline (Kristen Gutoskie) were totally wiped out. Season 8 Episode 7 of “The Vampire Diaries” was about a murderous Christmas holiday dinner.
Viewers are in anticipation of what comes next after Stefan becomes a ripper once again so that he can accomplish his mission. Later on, he wakes up to see Caroline. They kiss passionately under the mistletoe. Then, he leaves and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) catches him in a car.
“The Vampire Diaries” will resume airing in January 13, 2017 on The CW. It will also air on FOX8 in Australia.
